To begin doing Adventures, click the party icon and click Adventures to take you to the Adventure Base camp. Once you are there, you have to complete an easy tutorial on how to capture phantoms. You have to click the portal that has "tutorial grounds" to get started. After you have completed the tutorial, that animal only will be upgraded to level 1 which will allow you to do a few adventures. Once you do Adventures more often, you will level up and that will allow you to play more adventures.

Land adventures can be accessed through the Adventure Base Camp, and underwater adventures can be accessed through the Ocean Adventure Base Camp, which can be reached through Bahari Bay or the Ocean Adventure Base Camp dock in the normal Adventure Base Camp.
